Vulnerability Management
The practice of finding and fixing vulnerabilities in your systems on an ongoing basis. This typically involves regular vulnerability scans to identify known flaws, prompt patching or remediation, and tracking the status of issues.
For instance, a vulnerability scan might reveal that several PCs are missing a critical Windows security update; a vulnerability management process ensures those updates get installed and verifies that the holes are closed.
It's a continuous cycle - because new vulnerabilities are discovered all the time - but it's especially important for resource-limited teams as a structured way to keep weaknesses under control.
